Mount Ngaoundere, which towers over the city. for the rocky outcrop at the top, the mountain is a strange pile of awkwardly balanced boulders, some of which are very preciously perched on top of one another. The walk uphill takes you across the city’s parade ground, and further up. hiking along a well-established trail of gray, sandy dirt (a change from the red clay which dominates the city and surrounding areas). From the top, Ngaoundere opens up beneath you, and the tremendous views are enjoyed by tourists and locals alike.
