Founded in 1830 by the ancestor Ardo Djobdi the Lamidat of Ngaoundere is one of the old traditional structures of far northern Cameroon. Under the authority of a traditional leader of the state Fulani this Lamidat once extended beyond the territory of the Vina. With the arrival of settlers in the early twentieth century, Ngaoundere, traditional seat of the institutions Lamidat was already a big mall where practiced the sale of livestock, slaves and goods such as kola nut, tissues and shea butter .
